Hotel Merihovi

Stayed comfortably in Kemi, Hotel Merihovi

Hotel Merihovi is a family-owned hotel located in the heart of Sea Lapaland, in the center of City Kemi. Welcome to be our guest!

Nostalgic and cozy Hotel Merihovi

Hotel Merihovi’s foundation work was started after the wars in 1946 and the completed Merihovi was opened to the public on April 27, 1949. Despite the material shortage caused by the war, the end result was handsome. The shimmering ceiling lamps and classic white columns in the hall, designed by designer Paavo Tyneli, breathe a festive atmosphere.

Piece of histroy

President Urho Kekkonen stayed in Merihovi for the first time in 1959 and since then several times a year when returning from fishing trips in Lapland. Space pilot Juri Gagarin drew people to the hotel and the city’s first TV broadcasts were broadcast from Merihovi. 50 years later, in 1999, Merihovi went through a thorough and laborious renovation, where almost everything was renewed. In the renovation, the old was respected as much as possible, while taking into account modern requirements.

The hotel’s guests can refresh themselves in the Jukola sauna, and the hotel’s private saunas: Uitto and Lokki can be booked on request.
